A pre-Umoja celebration was held at the Walmart on Market Street Saturday August 1, 2009. Walmat guest were treated to a little music by Senior Express which featured Bluegrass, Country Western and Gospel. The Spoken Word was presented by Journey Black, and a drum ensemble of Liberia Featuring Kiki and crew which also performed a few dance routines. The purpose of the celebration was to highlight the unity spirit of Umoja and to informed the public about the upcoming Umoja Festival next Friday and Saturday (August 7&8) on the grounds of Freedom Hall. There will plenty of fun activities for the children like the free kids carnival and the Water wars game. There will also be music, parade, food, and of course Shaka Zulu with the dancers and drummers. So come on out and enjoy yourself.
